Drama Club

Fifth Wall Productions is the school's drama society. The goal is to mount one main stage production each year and perform in the National Theatre School Festival in Ottawa in late March. Drama Club begins in November and runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-5:30. Auditions will be held to fit students to roles. Commitment and enthusiasm are the key requirements! See Ms Clark for more information.

HOPE: Youth Connections Ottawa

Two wonderful clubs at South Carleton are joining forces to focus on similar goals. The H.O.P.E club (which stands for Helping Other People Everywhere) and the former S.O.S club (Sources of Strength) have combined and become HOPE: Youth Connections Ottawa.

Youth Connections Ottawa is a citywide organization directed by the Ottawa Public Health department and is committed to running mental health programs in many schools. The goal of Youth Connections Ottawa is to embed mental health connections and resources into our community.

HOPE will join the Youth Connections Ottawa team and focus on mental wellness, social issues, and support of social causes and charities.

The club will run activities and initiatives which will help promote mental health awareness and offer resources, as well as activities to help improve the mental health of our student body. We’ll also run fundraisers to support local and global causes and charities and continue to raise awareness about social issues.
Student members are welcome to participate in the activities that interest them the most. We will meet on Fridays at lunch in room 19C. Please see Ms. Eady, Ms. Welch or Ms. Pattison for more details.

Mural Club

Help make the school a brighter place! Mural club is a wonderful opportunity for students in all grades to showcase their creativity on a large surface in the school.  Students can work alone or in small groups.  They also receive volunteer hours for all of the time they put into creating the mural.  Mural Club meets every Monday at lunch.  Please see Mrs. Barbier in room 11 for more information.

Rainbow Alliance

The Rainbow Alliance provides a safe place for students to meet, support each other, talk about issues related to sexual orientation, and work to end homophobia. The Rainbow Alliance provides confidentiality to students who are struggling with their identity as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or questioning, but is also open to heterosexuals. Their meetings are a great opportunity to meet interesting people and have some fun! Meetings are held every Wednesday at lunch in room 26. Please see Ms. Clark or Ms. Pike for more information.

The Tech Crew at SC provides the highest quality of lights and sound in the theatre. Junior members are trained so they can start running shows as soon as possible. They are constantly at work either running shows, rehearsing, or fixing and adjusting equipment. Meetings are held Tuesdays at lunch in room 36. Please see Mr. McIntyre for more information.

Coffee House

Coffee Houses are the culmination of months of hard work for the musicians and technicians. Contemporary music is performed in a relaxed café-style setting. For 2 hours families and members of the community experience a wide variety of music from artists such as Our Lady Peace, Carrie Underwood, and Toto, as well as a variety of original tracks from our homegrown SC talent pool. Audiences are usually in the 150-300 range. Proceeds from the Coffee Houses fund a musicians' scholarship which helps deserving graduates seeking post secondary schooling in music, audio recording and sound engineering. Please see Mr. McIntyre for more information.

Leadership Camp and Leadership Planning Committee (LPC)

Leadership Camp is a phenomenal event that takes place every November for three days. Students spend these days at school, overnight, learning and sharpening the various leadership skills they acquire throughout the weekend. The Leadership Planning Committee is a group of motivated South Carleton students who organize and run this wonderful camp. This camp is an extraordinary experience filled with laughter and inspirational memories. We hope to see you at the next camp. Love, LPC.

Please see Mrs. Francis for more information.
